I went to a climbing spot called "Otorii" located in the southeast of Shiga Prefecture. Once again, I received guidance from Climber S instructor from Shiga Prefecture! The entrance to the approach is right under the cool and massive bridge called "Omi Otori Bridge (Wikipedia)" on the Nagoya-Kobe Expressway. Since the parking spaces were unavailable due to construction, I parked in the vacant space under the bridge. From where I parked, the rock formation looks beautiful. The entrance is just below the bridge. Following the faded pink tape, I made my way to the rock face. Let's get started! The first climb is a 5.10b route. S instructor climbed gracefully and set up the top rope. As for us, it was our first attempt, but our shoulders cramped up, and we were completely out of shape. Needless to say, we couldn't make it to the top. Now, there's an eye-catching slab on the Shigaraki Highway. We're going to challenge this one too. My wife managed to complete the climb, but I'm completely exhausted and done for. It turns out my wife had been secretly practicing at the bouldering gym after work for a few months, and her skill level has improved significantly! Oh, I've been left behind. I gave up and went for mountain vegetable picking instead. Food is better than Rocks. (”Bread is better than the songs of birds.”) I'm already starting to feel sore muscles. It's been a while since I climbed outdoors. The rock face had no room for improvement for me, but I still want to challenge it again. When I got home, the exhaustion was healed with a meal of mountain vegetables rice.
